Douglas has been urging me to check out House of Minis for a while now. Honestly, it’s been on the list of places to visit since we started blogging. However, since I’m not a steak fan, it was hard to convince me to go and visit the place. Well, thirty-four dates later, I guess we finally ended up here.

The place has a romantic fine dining feel to it—warm lighting, light music, waiters in longsleeves, etc. This could either be a good thing or a bad thing. For casual diners, it might be a little bit intimidating. For others, I think it’s a good opportunity to have a complete fine dining experience sans the steep fine dining prices.
The place has poor ventilation, so make sure you stay away from the open kitchen and sit near the air condition.

Complimentary soup of the day. I think it was supposed to be chowder. It had a thick and creamy texture, and it was served hot to my liking.

Complimentary bread and butter. Very warm, soft, and fresh.

Complimentary macaroni salad. I’m not a fan of macaroni salad, so I’ll leave this for you guys to judge.

This was my order of Steak ala Pobre (P350). It’s served on a hot plate, and the gravy sizzles frantically after it’s poured, so be careful with it.
It’s basically a tenderloin plus bits of roasted garlic for flavoring. The steak was consistently flavorful and tender all throughout.
It’s about an inch and a quarter thick, and it’s a bit bigger than a human palm. Quite big for its price. On the side are a couple of french fries (although I would have preferred them to be mashed potatoes), and some mixed vegetables.
I think it’s tasty, and it’s sulit, since it comes with all the free appetizers and dessert.

Meanwhile, this was Douglas’ order of Steak Flambe a la House of Minis (P350). I’ll just quote him on this one: “it was really good and for just 350 pesos, super tender and tasty”.
It was just as big as mine, although I found his a tad bit more tender.

Woohooo free ice cream for dessert! :D
Overall Verdict: I think it’s a great place for people who want to eat good, average priced steak in a fine dining setting. It’s really appropriate for dates, because of the soft ambiance and the setting. Recommended.
