I’m sure you guys have noticed that we haven’t posted in a while. It’s a bit sad :( We thought we’d be able to post more since it’s summer now but unfortunately our summer schedules have made it even more difficult for us to meet. We’ve also been trying to build up our savings, so we had to skip out on lavish dates.
Anyway, I’ve been backreading my blog and I spotted numerous grammatical errors and typos. It made me want to stab myself for making such dumb and careless mistakes. Confession: I torture myself for every bad word choice, and I kill myself for every grammatically incorrect sentence. I’m really particular about this since I’m a writing major and I’m hoping to make writing my profession.
Let me just share to you guys how I write my entries: I write on this blog as a therapeutic break from all the things I have to write for school. You see, it’s really stressful to write fiction (my track in BFA Creative Writing), and writing about food is a good way to release the tension from all the schoolwork.
However, I came to the realization that this blog is very public, and everything I post here speaks a lot about my style as a writer and consequently as an artist. Hindi pwedeng patapon lang ako magsulat dito kasi maraming nakababasa nito. That’s why I have resolved to improve the quality of my writing.
There’s a pitfall, though. I don’t want to end up sounding like paid feature writers who pepper their articles with superfluous language that tend to mislead readers. I want to keep this blog as truthful as possible—but I also want to write in a manner that is elegant, easy-to-read and professional.
Our blog is almost one year old now. It’s been a long (but fun) journey. I hope that in the coming year, my writing (as well as our photography) for this blog improves. I’m going to start saving up for a DSLR camera for my blog, although you shouldn’t count on that one since I’m the most unreliable person when it comes to saving money.
Anyway, thank you for all the support you’ve given Yummy Date Night in the past year. C: You guys are always great and kind. :)

Obligatory couple picture for the occasion. Forgive my face. I just like this picture because Douglas looks cute here.
Sincerely yours,
Rina Caparras and Douglas Chong
