Chicken Quesadillas - P190
Agave Mexican Cantina is a place couples should visit if they want to enjoy light and healthy snacks along with refreshing cocktails or perhaps bottles of beer. It’s fit for long, romantic dinners together, doing nothing but talking about anything under the sun.
Agave’s quesadillas are lighter than the quesadillas from other Mexican Cantinas. Instead of more cheese and meat, their quesadillas have more vegetables. That could either be a good thing or a bad thing. If you’re looking for the gooey, melt-in-your-mouth cheesy flavor, you won’t find it here. Instead, you’ll get a mix of various vegetables. If you add a generous serving of garlic sauce, this is a dish that you are still sure to love. It’s a lighter and a healthier choice than the quesadillas normally served in other Mexican restaurants.

Strawberry Margarita
This had a powerful kick with every sip. We were glad the margarita wasn’t too diluted by the strawberry and vanilla ice cream mix. It was a relaxing and tasty alcoholic beverage.

Pineapple Mojito
Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this much. The mint leaves inside the mixture were very bothersome because they kept on clogging the straw, and every time they got into my mouth, I felt like I was literally eating leaves. The flavor wasn’t anything I was fond of either. The mix of the alcohol and the pineapple did not contrast because I felt that the alcohol was overpowering the flavoring.

Calamari Fritos - P225
We munched on these calamares while drinking our beverages. They make a nice pulutan, so to speak. They were cut nice and thin so that the texture wasn’t so tough. I really hate tough textured squid, and this one passed my standards. Although it’s obvious that the calamares were cooked in a fryer, they weren’t oily at all, which sets this version up over other fried calamari dishes. They were also quite generous with the serving; the dish was enough for about three to four people. However, I felt that the sauce that came with it was a little bland.
The Verdict: I love drinking alcohol and eating Mexican food at the same time, but unfortunately, I would still root for Tia Maria’s Cantina over Agave. The alcohol in Tia Maria’s Cantina is smoother and is blended better than the ones here. But I wouldn’t say Agave completely loses when it comes to food. If you’re around Eastwood and you’re up for a nice, quiet dinner over some cold drinks, this would be a good place for couples and friends alike.
